BACHELOR OF MIDWIFERY (B.MID)

This course intends to develop competent midwives who are able to utilize evidence-based practice and will ensure that they are well prepared to practice safely and effectively, within the proficiencies laid down by the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM). This program will produce midwife leaders, advocates, collaborators and teachers committed to the improvement of the health of the women of Nepal. Graduate midwives can work in a variety of private or government health care settings in hospitals like maternity and neonatal care settings, in community rural and remote primary health care centers, academics/teaching, research, international aid organizations.

The program duration will be of 4 academic years

  • Successfully completed 3 years proficiency certificate level of nursing from a recognized institution and should have secured an aggregate of 50% or more marks.
  • Minimum of one years of work experience after successful completion of the proficiency certificate nursing course. Preference given to those who have been working in maternal and newborn health, family planning and reproductive health or other women’s health services.
  • Be in good health and be physically and mentally fit.

Entrance Test for B.Mid will be conducted by the Medical Education Commission (MEC), Government of Nepal and selection will be done as per MEC guidelines by MEC.
